Overview
The option of
Surrogacy is
usually chosen
if you have
exhausted all
other attempts
to achieve your
dream of having
a baby. You can
also choose your
child’s gender.
Consultation
before coming to
ThailandIf
you have
decided
on
Surrogacy
we offer
you an
in-depth
consultation
by
email. A
member
of our
medical
team
will
oversee
a
detailed
review
of your
medical
situation
such as
the need
for a |

donor egg
or sperm, as
well as discuss
the Surrogacy
procedures and
also offer
advice on any
legal issues you
may have to deal
with on
returning to
your home
country with
your new baby.
Prior to
actually
finalizing
Surrogacy
arrangements,
all medical
information will
be assessed by
Dr Wiwat and his
team. Telephone
and email
consultations
with our
International
Patient Care
Team will allow
for your
Surrogacy match
to be completed
before you
arrive in
Thailand. You
may also wish to
speak directly
with Dr Wiwat
prior to
finalizing the
planning stage
of your
treatment.
Surrogate
Screening
We have an
excellent
reputation for
providing
quality medical
care and support
to Surrogates
and are proud of
the high
pregnancy
success rates we
achieve. All
potential
Surrogates
undergo an
intensive
screening
process which
commences with a
very detailed
questionnaire,
the initial
screening phase
of the
application.
They are then
interviewed by a
member of our
medical team.
This is followed
by medical
testing
including
testing for
infectious
diseases such as
AIDS and
Hepatitis C, and
evidence of drug
abuse. Only once
a candidate has
cleared all of
these steps is
she considered a
potential
Surrogate.
All of our
Surrogates are
aged under 38,
with the average
age being 30
years, and have
had a previous
pregnancy.
You will be
provided with
important
details of your
Surrogate’s
medical, genetic
and family
history, her
social and
educational
background, her
motivations to
become a
Surrogate and
details of her
appearance.
Surrogates and
recipients are
required to sign
standard consent
forms which
guarantee the
respective
rights of both
parties.
Surrogacy
Success Rates
68% of our
Surrogate cycles
result in
pregnancy on the
first attempt.
After 2
attempts, 84% of
Surrogates
become pregnant.
It is very rare
for our
Surrogacy
program not to
eventually
achieve a
successful
pregnancy.
Surrogacy
Costs
Most of the cost
is for the
Surrogate
becoming
pregnant and
delivering the
baby. If
conception does
not occur, the
Surrogate
receives payment
only for that
part of the
program she has
completed. The
remaining money
destined for
payment to the
Surrogate,
covering the
term of the
pregnancy and
the delivery,
remains in trust
for a successful
cycle, or is
refunded to you
should you
decide not to
try a repeat
attempt.
Though the
standard of
Fertility
treatment at our
clinic is equal
to the highest
internationally,
our Surrogacy
program offers
you a very high
chance of a
successful
outcome at less
than one half or
one third of the
cost of similar
programs
overseas. This
price difference
is largely due
to the
significant
difference in
the cost of
living in
Thailand
compared to say,
the USA or
Europe.
This cost saving
does not arise
from ANY
compromise in
medical care and
surrogate
screening.
Liaison with
your physician
We can liaise
with your
physician to
ensure that you
are as well
prepared as
possible. If a
physician,
ultrasound
facility and
hormone
laboratory are
available in
your home
country the bulk
of the cycle
preparation and
treatment can be
carried out
before you
arrive in
Thailand.
Details of these
arrangements
will be
coordinated by
Dr Wiwat and our
International
Patient Care
Team.
Time required
in Thailand
The total amount
of time required
to complete a
full treatment
cycle involving
a Surrogate is
approximately 5
weeks, if you
use your own
eggs. However,
depending on
prior
arrangements
with
international
patients,
completed
successful
cycles with the
mother needing
to be present
can be as little
as five days,
and one day for
the male
partner. In most
cases, you are
able to
comfortably
complete the
monitoring and
egg retrieval
portion of your
treatment within
a ten to twelve
day stay.
However, please
be aware that
nature also
plays a part and
is not always
reliable so
sometimes there
may be delays
due to reasons
beyond our
control.
Timeline for
obtaining a
Surrogate
Depending upon
any specific
issues involving
your surrogate,
matches are
usually made
within five
weeks. Requests
for surrogates
with certain
religious or
ethnic
backgrounds may
delay this
matching
process. In most
cases our
surrogates are
Thai women.
Once a signed
Surrogacy
contract is
completed and
financial
arrangements are
made, the cycles
of the
mother-to-be (or
egg donor) and
the Surrogate
will be
analyzed, and
arrangements
made to initiate
the treatment
cycle. We can
usually
accommodate any
scheduling
requirements of
either the
couple or the
Surrogate.
After a
successful
delivery
The baby will be
examined in our
newborn nursery
by a
pediatrician,
and when ready
for discharge,
will be sent
home with his or
her new parents.
The Surrogate
will be
discharged when
her obstetrician
feels she is
ready to leave
the hospital. At
this point,
further contact
between the
parents and the
surrogate is by
mutual
agreement. All
costs of care of
the baby in the
nursery is paid
for by the new
parents.
Important
Notice
All legal issues
concerning the
establishment of
parentage of
your Surrogate
born child,
required by your
country of
residence, must
be dealt with
prior to signing
your Surrogacy
contract.
Important
Legal Guidelines
The guidelines
below are an
example only of
the process of
establishing
parentage when
using a
surrogate.
Please be very
aware that the
legal
requirements in
your home state
or country of
residence may be
quite different
and adherence to
them is your
responsibility.
We urge you seek
the guidance of
a qualified
attorney before
considering the
following
options. We
cannot accept
any
responsibility
for legal
requirements in
your country of
residence and
you will be
asked to sign a
statement
confirming that
you have
received legal
advice
concerning the
establishment of
parentage of a
surrogate child
before
commencing with
our surrogate
program.
